Tanks - Jagdtiger
(List of photos at bottom of page).
German Jadgtiger tank destroyer. For all practical purposes, this was the ultimate expression of German tank/AFV design. The Elefant and Maus were bigger, but the Elefant proved a disaster at Kursk and the Maus never went into production. But the Jagdtiger did. It was the heaviest production armored vehicle of World War II. Armored from 80mm to 200mm. And armed with the biggest gun of any armored fighting vehicle: the 128mm Pak 44 L/55. Luckily only 88 Jagdtigers were built and they were restricted at every level by poor reliability and very limited combat radius. Most of the Jagdtigers were simply abandoned after running out of fuel or breaking down.
