THE LATEST NEWS for People's General
BE SURE TO BOOKMARK THIS SITE! If you have any suggestions, then let me know.
October, 2002: I guess I haven't updated this page in a long time. The big news is that the equipment file has gone through major improvements adding many new icons and units. And Jeff Varnes has patched the game so that you don't have to deal with the pesky alliancesin People's General. Robert has added about a gazillion maps you can download and use for People's General, and there has been much more content that has been added and/or updated.
January, 2002: Two new scenarios and two new maps converted from PGII maps from Robert and a new scenario from Paolo Galibati and a new SS Campaign from Mark Kirby! Thanks Robert and Paolo and Mark!
December, 2001: Oops, I did it again. I have updated the look completely twice. You'll probably note some changes of the look and feel of the site as well as the site architecture. This is being done to try to improve page load times. Also due to added content, downloads, and access of the site, it has been necessary to start modularizing everything. Downloads for campaigns, utiilies, etc., now have their own page. Anyway, for this month, we have added more utilities or revised versions from Mark Kirby and from Luis Guzman. Robert has updated his Red Danger Expansion Pack and as part of it added one new campaign and five new scenarios! You can find all of these in the Download section. We need new naval icons. Michel has been working on this, but he needs help. Madman is back, and has already contributed with a new map of Afghanistan and more icons which are going to make their way into the coming release of the v.2.0 e-file.
November, 2001: Another People's General campaign and a new utility from Robert Nowakowski and a new scenario from Marc Kuhl! We've also now added our first four maps on this site as well thanks to Marc Kuhl! There will be more to come! Robert McKee has just contributed his latest scenario set in Afganistan. See if you can get Osama Bin Laden! Luis' latest version of the editor lets you name terrain and units very, very easily and do much more!
October, 2001: Updated Mark's People's General PG2 map conversion utility to v.3. Version 1.9 of the People's General e-file is finally out as of 9/8/2001, and we have a new version of The Railroaded Campaign coming out soon too, thanks to Brian Carpenter (PeGRef). Luis Guzman has contributed his great new e-file converter to convert PG2 equipment files to People's General! See the Utilities section below. We've also added a Frequently Asked Questions page. See the links below. And now Luis has also added a Windows based Scenario editor. Thank you Luis!!!! Both of Luis' utilities are fantastic! Brian has also released his first stand-alone campaign. See Enemy of My Enemy, below. Added Robert Nowakowski's epic upgrade, which you'll find below.
I am also trying a new method of moving the most recently posted or updated items to the top of their respective sections. Let me know if this helps.
OVERVIEW
Thanks for coming here. Once this first page gets filled up and I get more time, I will start to break this site down into multiple pages (i.e. Campaigns, Links, Equipment, etc.) or maybe start an archive. I will also eventually start to get rid of older files (such as the Equipment 1.1 file below).I wanted to let you know that we're going to be releasing a lot of new goodies soon for what we are calling NATO General (the upgrade to People's General)... For example, we (Mark Kirby, Luis Guzman, Brian Carpenter, Pat Fitzgibbon, others and myself) are going to be introducing new icons, "new" maps (converted from PG2), new countries, and more. This will make WWIII incredibly interesting and fun! You can now buy aircraft, AWACs, etc. Please join the forum (and have your friends do so as well) and contribute your ideas, especially now while we are creating the e-file, etc.
To everyone who is corresponding with me off-line via e-mail or snail mail, I appreciate your ideas! However, I would also share them with everyone else at the forum. We're trying to get everyone to contribute their ideas enthusiastically, and if you post there, you will see more than just me corresponding with you.
I'm very glad you ran across this site, but please tell me how you found it. We are trying to increase the exposure of People's General and other tools and campaigns that we are developing, and your feedback will help greatly. I suspect that we will have some minor teething problems with different downloads, etc., at the site, but those should all get rectified based on your feedback.
If you haven't already done so, then please join the People's General forum. See other links below.
VERY IMPORTANT: Always read the README files for anything you download. They won't always be called README.txt. For example, I usually preface my readme files with the name of the zip file or something similar. The downloads are right here on my server, which means no wait times or additional screens. Just click and they start to download wherever you want them.
The feedback and ideas of enthusiasts like yourself is always appreciated! We also always need new campaigns and scenarios. The development tools are here as well in case you want to get started!
Thanks,
Narayan
