Pacific General Game | ||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Pacific General Game, by SSI - 24 MB. This is one of my favorite games of all time. The naval action is great, but you also get land, sea, and air combat as well, and all modeled in a great way. This version comes without the music, but otherwise, it's all there and already patched to version 1.1. It comes with a Japanese and an American campaign - both Pacific Theater flavored. But with the modifications below, you can be playing European Theater in no time. | ||||||
5 Star Equipment File v2.3 - OPTIONAL - 13 MB. By SSI/Strayer/Sengupta/Nesic; last updated 02/13/07. This is the largest and most extensive Pacific General equipment file yet. 2.9 Armory roster + 530 new units + notes + equip. tables and all of Radovan Nesic's new icons. Pacific General equipment has never been sexier. This project was originally months in the making!!! Backward compatible with all known Pacific General campaigns released up to 2003 or 2004. I have added units, changed many ratings to reflect history or the strengths and weaknesses of different nations. Now submarines, artillery and naval guns are all calibrated approximately on the same ranges. Certain classes of units are inherently less desirable in Pacific General than was true in real life. That has now started to change. Submarines have improved movement and firing range. That means they are better. That means that they can sink ships more easily, which means that instead of an all-battleship fleet, you will now need to have more destroyers to hunt the submarines. Carriers have reduced hangars, which means you will need more of them. Plus, since the submarines are stronger, you should have more carriers as insurance. Artillery, which causes something like 70% of battlefield casualties in real life (tanks actually kill very few people) have their ranges improved and some of their stats tweaked upward. Thanks to Steve Strayer and SSI, the vast majority of these units already existed in the equipment file. There are many discrepancies from one source of information (see REFERENCES below) to the other, so I have used my best judgement for additions and modifications. I have researched them extensively and have added them where it was historically realistic to other countries that used the same equipment. For example, certain aircraft were used by 12 to 20 other Allied countries! Other than that, there are only about 175 truly new units. And I have tweaked easily 700 units in all, especially focusing on expiration dates so that there aren't four versions of the T-34 available at once, for example. Now the T-34A is available, then the A and B, then the B and C, then the C and D and then the D and the T-34/85. This same kind of change has been applied to as many units of the same family as possible though it's not perfect yet by any means. The new US 8" gun, for example, can fire six hexes to simulate its actual 32 km range. Other guns will be recalibrated as time permits and as I can find information. Version 2.3 includes Radovan's icon upgrade so that you don't have to install it separately. :) |

Pacific General CAMPAIGNS | ||||||
English Campaign | 105 kb | Campaign | Antonio Maximo | 07/15/03 | This is one of my favorite campaigns ever for any game. The first scenario - the German attack on England - will wake you up in a hurry. The rest will also prove very enjoyable. | |
Polish Campaign spanning Slovakia (new map by Maciej), France, Ukraine, Smolensk, Moscow, Stalingrad, Berlin, England and Lybia. I haven't played this one but it looks really very interesting. One of his reasons for making this campaign was "I've played a USSR campaign, where poland fought at the side of Germany, but when the Germans had Tigers, we had units from the stone age. So I decided to make a campaign, showing most of the prototype and projected units." | ||||||
Polish Campaign (1938-1945) | 115 kb | Campaign | Maciej Stoklosa | 11/06/04 | ||
Italian Campaign | 115 kb | Campaign | Antonio Maximo | 11/06/04 | Italian Campaign. | |
Italian Campaign | 2 mb | Campaign | Roberto Franci | 11/06/04 | This is an excellent 13 scenario Italian campaign spanning from France (1940) to Sicily (1943). You'll need v4.0 of the Armory E-Roster. | |
Mediterranean Campaign | 165 kb | Campaign | Mario Kolic | 07/15/03 | This is one starts out well, but I'm not sure if it's fully sorted out. Probably a single replacement scenario would do the trick. | |
German Campaign (Light) | 105 kb | Campaign | Fred Chandla | 07/15/03 | This is an outstanding campaign. It's quite challenging intellectually, but worth it. This campaign is a "desperate measure [to] attack by a relatively small German force on the American mainland". | |
German Campaign | 800kb | Campaign | Fred Chandla | 07/15/00 | This is the full version of the above campaign. It's quite challenging intellectually, but worth it. This campaign is a "desperate measure [to] attack by a relatively small German force on the American mainland". | |
US Campaign | 365 kb | Campaign | Jawn Henry | 01/28/03 | Another badly needed American campaign for Pacific General! | |

PACIFIC GENERAL Equipment File Goodies | ||||||
Older version of the 5 Star Equipment File for Pacific General. This one uses the 2.9 Armory roster as a starting point and then adds 530 new units + notes + equip. tables. This is a much smaller download, requires no icon upgrades, but just extracting two files to the specified directory (see the _Readme.txt file). This is backward compatible with almost all campaigns on this site except for ones that have been made in 2003 or more recently. | ||||||

4 scenarios in all by Schwejk of the German Pacific Club (see links below). Works only with all equipment files, I believe. For Iwo Jima, he writes: "Iwo Jima - the Schwejkian (?) way: Tougher, rougher and lots o' fortifications :-) This one is for fun and not for historical correctness :-)". For Midway, the scenario is a historically corrected one you can use as a replacement scenario of the SSI Stock campaigns. | ||||||

Pacific General MAPS | ||||||
Use these maps instead of reinventing the wheel. There are 39 Allied General maps and the 38 original Panzer General 1 maps converted to Pacific General by Bill Haering. The maps are rough and need some clean up, but are fully functional and usable. Note that Pacific General's Scenario Editor can only display so many maps at a time. So if you extract all of these maps into the folder where your other maps reside, but can't see some of them, that is why. Remove some of the older maps into a backup folder, and then you should be okay. | ||||||
Allied General and Panzer General Maps | 5 kb | Bill Haering | 06/18/04 | |||
Robert's Maps | 5 kb | Robert Menna | 06/18/04 | Use these maps instead of reinventing the wheel. There are 3 beautiful new maps. | ||
Jawn's Maps | 5 kb | Jawn Henry | Use these maps instead of reinventing the wheel. There are about 10 maps. Jawn's Australia map, for example, allows ships to sail around it. | |||
USSR Maps | 5 kb | Narayan Sengupta | Use these maps instead of reinventing the wheel | |||
Improved Maps | 105 kb | ? | There are around 20 maps in this package. This might be by Steve Strayer since it contains his beautiful Iceland map (a real masterpiece and one of the best maps ever made). | |||
